Nature is at the root of each and every economy on the Planet. In this fast growing World, Natural Resources account for 20-40% of family’s yearly income. The forests are a source of income for nearly 1.6 billion people on Earth. It is the Nature that provides us Construction material to build houses or buildings, the house that we make Home – where we stay, work and worship. The Nature provides these materials for almost millions of construction jobs widely. Moreover, the forest products in an aggregate account for about 1% of the world’s gross domestic product, and also the aggregate global market for wood products commercially which includes logs, panels, lumbers, paper, pulp and many more products.

Food We Eat:

Nature is the main source of the food that we consume. A very important source for employment are the jobs that help us get our food on our tables. Almost 1 of every 3 people are employed in agriculture and also a huge lot employed in the work of fishing. Many companies explore agriculture even locally which includes growing of coffee, generation of honey, growing mushrooms, nuts, berries and a few more which are primary source of income for people in these locations.

WHAT ARE THE ISSUES?

Unsustainable Food and Agriculture Production

Unsustainable Food and Agriculture Production:

Of the total land available, nearly 50% of the same is used for agriculture. But, due to increase in population the need for food products are increasing at a very quick pace. The mistake that is being made is that the current farmland is not being used efficiently but more are is being covered to produce agricultural resources which should not be the case. The lands that have fertility are losing its elements on account of being unused. The natural resources are at a risk.

fishing

Illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing:

A very high quantity of the total fish that is caught every year comes from illegal, unregulated means. The total amount from such fishing reaches to US$ 10 billion yearly. This system not just harms the fishes but also creates an unfair competition in the market for all the fishermen who follow fair trade practices.

Water-Scarcity

Water Scarcity:

It is estimated that by the end of the year 2025, 2/3rd of the global population might face shortage of water. Almost 70% of water is being used by the agriculture industry which leaves just 1/3rd of fresh water available for humans and other uses. Insufficient water supply can be a cause for the disruption in people’s lives and their livelihoods.
